Resources for Doing Business in Pangnirtung
All businesses operating within the Municipality of Pangnirtung require a business license, as per Hamlet of Pangnirtung Business License By-law No. 3.To apply for or renew a business license, complete the Business License Application form and pay applicable fee at the front desk of the Hamlet Office. Please note that business licenses must be renewed annually.

Starting a New Business?
Business Name Registration
Register your business name with the GN Department of Justice. Forms are available from Nunavut Legal Registries.
Worker’s Safety and Compensation Commission Registration
Register your business with the Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission . If you do not have any workers or contractors, complete the “Declaration of Self-Employment”. If your business employs workers or contractors, it must be registered using the “New Employer Account Registration”.
If your business is Inuit-owned, register with NTI as an Inuit Firm.
If you intend on bidding on Government of Nunavut contracts, register with NNI to become a Nunavut Registered Business.
If your business is considered a tourism establishment (e.g. B&B, outfitting), a Government of Nunavut-issued Tourism Establishment License is required. This license is delivered through the Department of Economic Development & Transportation (ED&T).
Businesses related to tourism should also consider becoming a member of Nunavut Tourism for advertising and other benefits
Fire and Health Inspections may also be required, depending on the type of business.
